We make

> sudoarc is a small, independent game studio. we've been gamers for longer than we've been anything else, and at some point that meant we had to start building. Bricolage is what we're building right now — jump in below, or talk to the shell.

-rw-r--r-- play-first.md
design at the controller. if it doesn't feel right in fifteen minutes, the systems get rebuilt — not the marketing copy. 1.2K
drwxr-xr-x weird-is-feature/
the genres we love started weird and got sanded down. we'd rather under-budget polish than over-budget conformity. 4.0K
-rw-r--r-- players-only.cfg
made by people who play. decades of muscle memory shape every menu, every input. no focus groups. 837B
-rw-r--r-- small.exe
we keep the studio small on purpose. fewer meetings = more time at the controller. you can guess which we prefer. 4.2M

no battle passes, no seasons, no daily quests. one save file. play when you want, take a year off, come back. 64B

Bricolage

● in dev · vertical slicefirst announced 2025 · steam · pc/mac/linux

A tinker-craft sandbox. You arrive at a workshop someone left mid-project. Repair, remix, and invent your way through a small, hand-drawn world. Every system was built to combine — a fishing rod is a clock is a key.

▼ TRY IT — INTERACTIVE PREVIEW ▼

Pick two things.
See what you get.

This is a tiny model of bricolage's whole crafting system. Every object has properties; combining objects combines properties; the game finds a sensible middle ground and gives you something back. Sometimes a tool. Sometimes a curio.

The real game has ~280 items and ≈40k recipes that emerge from them. No recipe book. No tutorial. Just: a workbench, and curiosity.

> try: rod + clock
> or: lantern + fish
> or anything else. there are 15 named recipes here.
$ ./workshop --interactive
pick 2 → combine
─── workbench ───
> the workbench is empty.
> drag two items from the left to combine them.

every system in bricolage is built to combine. this is roughly how it feels.
sudoarc@studio:~/games/bricolage$ cat features.txt

every NPC remembers your repairs (and your mistakes)
gamepad-first input, mouse welcome, no menu hunting

one save file. permadeath optional. cloud optional.
painterly top-down art (yes, all hand-drawn)
mod support — recipes, sprites, dialog
